Awesome elliptical!

This is an awesome machine. I’m sweating after my first workout and I love how beautiful and sturdy it is. I would like that the app cover elliptical workouts though. I noticed there are only bike workouts atm. In any case, my quads are CRYING and I love it. If anyone knows how to workout the glutes more, pls let me know!

Keiser responded:

Thanks Nassaraf, the way the M5i step is more vertical it can provide a great glute workout! Just make sure you stay centered with your knees a bit bent, try to keep the feet slightly more flat and you'll start to feel it.

We do also have a program we just finished development on called The Ride, you can find it in the app store or at the link below:

https://theride.keiser.com/

Though the classes are taught on Keiser cycles, we use effort and/or "zone" based training and as such, you can participate in the class with your M5i!

Great machine but Keiser needs to up its game with the digital display

I got the Keiser Elliptical in July, and honestly there doesn't even seem to be another elliptical on the market that compares in form and function. I had used one at Orange Theory, and due to low back injuries can no longer run, row or bike. There are few apps with elliptical workouts. I tried iFit, but that app is terrible all around. You can't pause a workout, fast forward or rewind. I now use the Peloton app and love it! They don't have elliptical workouts, but you can adapt the cycling ones for this and I think its probably a better workout then being on the bike.

Here's how I mod the Peloton cycling for an elliptical workout:

-In general, try to match my RPM to their cadence. Bikes seem to spin a little faster, so I sometimes...

Bikes seem to spin a little faster, so I sometimes can't hold on to the faster RPM as long. I consider if I'm within 10 RPM of what they call for cadence for I'm good.
-I warm-up at about an 7-9 Gear at their cadence.
-After warm-up, I usually add '10' to whatever resistance they call for. So, if they say resistance at 2-3, I'm at 12-13 on the gear. I prioritize the RPM, so if I'm really struggling to keep up RPM then I'll drop down on the gear 1-2.
-Each time they are "out of the saddle" I crank the gear to 16 or 17. Then back off when they sit back down.
-Climb workouts are my favorite to do with the Peloton app ~ They usually hold 60-75 on cadence (RPM), which feels natural on this elliptical, and then just crank up the gear as much as you can as they climb. Its an awesome workout.

My only complaint with this Keiser if the digital display that feels like its from 1995. I put my cellphone on the holder and use that for the classes. The polar heart rate strap that came with mine is useless ~ fluctuated between 50 and 250 at all times. I just use my apple watch to check heart rate, which seems a little more accurate.

Also, make sure you ask for the floor mat. It is necessary because you will be sweating on this thing, its a doozy of workout once you get the hang of doing the cycling classes with it.

Keiser responded:

Thanks for your input Brooke, I can actually strongly recommend Keiser's own system of indoor classes on your M5i! The program is called The Ride and because Keiser emphasizes zones/effort based training, you can use any Keiser cardio product with the classes!

You're correct, we do keep the display simple but you've actually already adopted what I was going to suggest: using the Keiser M Series app! That's one of the main reasons we developed the app was to provide an enhanced second display for the cycle, that also allows you to track your exercise data.

Your Polar HRM troubles me though, have you had a chance to reach out to our service department?

Thank you,

Good machine, came with a rattle. Customer service is horrible!

Left foot rest was rattling. Found that the bolt was not installed correctly from the factory (stripped threads). Called the dealer, they said to call the manufacturer. Keiser said to call the dealer. This is painful--they should have just sent me the $2 part. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to get the old stripped part off... Probably will have to cut it off and buy a new bolt at Home Depot. Not great for a $2000 piece of equipment!!!

Keiser responded:

Hey Don, I'm sorry to hear that. Any "out of the box" issues are handled with the original purchaser as the warranty process starts there. We follow these protocols so that we can trace these issues however, this certainly shouldn't be that difficult. Have you received the assistance you need to correct this issue? Please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Excellent

I got this machine three days ago and have used it every day since it arrived. It's about as compact and attractive as an elliptical can be, and it's a great workout. I am fairly in shape and was drenched in sweat after 30 minutes. The emphasis of this machine is on durability and function, which I love because I trust that it will still be working for a long time.

Pre-covid, I took pilates and other strength classes from studios and paid for a gym membership just for the elliptical. This is an expensive machine, but I will never need to pay for a gym membership again.

I did a ton of research and was nervous about buying expensive equipment without seeing it, but I'm very happy with my purchase. This machine is seriously underrated.

Top quality product, all-star delivery

I knew I wanted one of these, as a longtime Orangetheory customer. The M5i has a nice small footprint and with its simple yet effective resistance system provides much more of an intense exercise experience than other giant "ellipse" machines. White glove delivery of my fully assembled unit, within a nice short time frame, meant setting it up was as easy as unwrapping it. I love this machine and this U.S. manufacturer. Would definitely buy again.

Keiser M5i

I LOVE my Keiser strider! I give it a 5 star rating in all categories, ease of ordering, delivery, set up and use. I had been using this strider at Orange Theory for several months, but with COVID, wanted to continue working out from home. I love that this piece of equipment is very sturdy but compact, fits anywhere and can be used anywhere since it is noiseless. Product shipped prior to the promised date, arrived by Fed Ex Freight when scheduled and was in perfect condition (maybe because it was made in the USA!) I highly recommend this product and company!

Excellent all around

My wife and I were looking for a well-built piece of cardio equipment as a substitute for the gym during the pandemic. The M5i was worth every penny and then some. It is a sturdy and professional-grade piece of equipment. It seems to have a smaller footprint than most ellipticals. It fits in our city apartment and it makes no more noise than a whisper, even when working out at high speeds or high tension. I have been able to work out very late at night and not wake up my wife. I would recommend it to anyone without reservation. And it was nice to see a "Made in the USA" sticker on it too.
