Bike came with overmachined hex bolt, couldn't complete assembly

First off, I would like to say that a friend has this same bike- she convinced me to get it and she had no issues with assembly- the only reason I'm giving it any stars. My bike was delivered in pristine condition, but when we got to the last stage of putting the handlebars on, the hex bolts that need to be removed were all machined in so tight that we had to use a hammer and Allen Key to loosen them. 3 were able to be removed, but the last one wasn't. I've now had a professional bike builder, and a car mechanic come out with their own tools to try and remove this bolt but it won't come out. The bike cannot be put together without it coming out- so the $2000 bike (which I have now spent around 10 hours and money paying different tradesmen get this...

It's bad enough that all Keiser's competitors are delivering assembled bikes- but to add insult to injury they make you pay extra for the tools required to assemble the bike. That is ridiculous- it should be included in the cost of the bike, or like your competitors in the same price point, it should be delivered assembled. For a $2000 bike, this is incredibly disappointing.

Keiser responded:

Hi Ruby,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I'm very sorry to hear that! You are correct, that is definitely unacceptable for our products.

I see you sent an inquiry to our service department, they will be in touch shortly to discuss the next steps. If the cycle isn't performing as advertised, it is covered under warranty for this sort of thing.

As for assembly, your cycle was purchased from one of our resellers, and they offer an assembly service for an additional fee, just as we do when purchased on Keiser.com! The assembly with any of our competitors isn't free, it's either a separate charge or is built into the price of their cycle and is noted when placing your order. We prefer to give customers the option rather than make it mandatory, though based on feedback like this we might make it the default option moving forward so...

When it comes to the tools, when purchased from Keiser directly, you receive a 50% discount on the tools if you order them with a cycle. That puts the cost right around what you'd pay if you ordered them all separately. It's more or less the same as assembly services, we prefer to give customers the option. Our cycles do require a few tools that aren't in the average tool box, however that is because they are commercial grade and more precise.

Again, thank you for sending the picture and for your feedback. Hearing from customers is critical to ensuring we can always improve, and I hope you'll review the cycle again once we get this taken care of!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns, thank you,

As Good As I’d Hoped

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Bike is rock solid, smooth, quiet, comfortable and gears are instantly responsive. Bluetooth computer works flawlessly with Polar chest strap and phone apps. Not a fan of the shoe cages so I removed them. I am so happy with this investment.

Quiet, smooth ride

VERIFIED PURCHASE
This bike is really great quality. The bluetooth connectivity is a necessary option, in my opinion. I like being able to go through the guided rides on the app while being able to watch or listen to something other than an instructor telling me what to do. It's also super quiet. I'm in a small space and needed something that wouldn't disrupt others. This is a fantastic quality product. It also comes super well packaged, traveling across the country in perfect condition. Set up is relatively easy, and the instruction manual is one of the best I've seen.

The tools took the star.

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Great bike, but that's why I ordered. The only problem is the tools needed, I should have ordered the tool kit with the bike rather than after like I did. Cost wise you'll save $.

Kyle was extremely helpful

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Bike arrived with a faulty Comm wire. Kyle was very helpful in sending me the proper instructions and parts for me to make the repair in lieu of not having a bike repair technician in our area.

I appreciate the quality of the M3i Keiser so much I have referred several people. To my knowledge two have since purchased an M3i. I will continue to make referrals. I now own two M3i bikes.

Keiser responded:

Hi Karen, thanks for being such an energetic Keiser supporter! It has been a pleasure doing business with you over these last few years, and I hope we can help you again should you or someone you know be in the market.

Love the bike!!!

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Really happy with the bike, used them at the spin class for many years. I like how they are made.
I’m going on 70 now and still ride my road bike. The Keiser is built more like a road bike, that why I like it so much. Now I have something to ride when when weather is to hot or cold!

I don't do reviews

This bike is ridiculously good. I'm primarily a weightlifter (20+ years) and I use the bike for sprints, not for long rides. The transition from easy to hard is super smooth and I love the precision resistance levels. Fantastic conditioning tool. By far the best bike I've ever been on.

Super Versatility

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Purchased the Keiser based on the referral of a friend, and have been delighted. The set-up was easy (used the manual plus a youtube video). The bike is relatively lightweight and offers multiple adjustments for a custom fit to support almost any body shape and size. The only area I have struggled with is integrating electronics, but that's generally my weak spot. Overall a great fitness bike.
