Great bike

VERIFIED PURCHASE
My wife wanted this bike as she uses it at the gym. I'm surprised at how well built this bike is. Installation was a breeze. Watched the video and used the manual. I had the app on my phone working in a few minutes and the heart rate monitor as well. I like how quiet it is and just how sturdy it feels.

A month ago my BP was 213/147 and now the family Zwifts together on the M3i

1) Researching: Wow, there are so many options out there. I did some sprint tris before, but my wife and I are not road warriors anymore. I needed a single piece of equipment that we both could use in the house and that would not “overwhelm” any spaces. At first I was hesitant because I’d read the concerns that the M3i could not connect to Zwift. Fortunately for me, the M3i holiday package included a new converter just for that purpose.

2) Ordering: The price felt a little steep compared to some options, but there were several very appealing features I liked over other options: magnetic resistance, low profile, included computer, converter (compatibility with Zwift), the whole thing weighs less than 100 pounds, dual cage/SPD pedals, the shifter is a simple lever vs the annoying hand crank, and they even...

2) Ordering: The price felt a little steep compared to some options, but there were several very appealing features I liked over other options: magnetic resistance, low profile, included computer, converter (compatibility with Zwift), the whole thing weighs less than 100 pounds, dual cage/SPD pedals, the shifter is a simple lever vs the annoying hand crank, and they even included every tool I needed (even a torque wrench) and a nice craftsman bag for it all. Ordering was simple and they even read my note asking to coordinate on delivery date for the holidays. They delivered it exactly when I asked.

3) Setting up the M3i: Holy cow this was easy. They have a setup video posted that I used. It was intuitive and simple to follow. Had the whole thing setup in an hour.

4) Connecting to Zwift: When you start pedaling, the computer automatically turns on. My first converter had an issue and would not initiate. I called Keiser and they had a replacement to me the next day. It turns out that they discovered when customers were removing the little shipping tab that separate the connection on the batter, the connection was being stretched a bit. So, be gentle when removing that tab. The instructions say to sticky tape the converter to the back of the media tray. I admittedly have the converter sitting in my media tray so I can see the red or green light. All you do is pick it up or tap it and it automatically tries to connect. Red means it’s searching and green means it’s connected. So, now, when I start pedaling the computer starts up and I tap the converter. They connect instantly. Then I login to Zwift on a 4K Apple TV. It recognizes and remembers my bike after the initial connection.

5) Riding the M3i: The settings are solid and very much like any spin bike you may have seen at a gym. The dual cage/SPD pedals make it easy to use either kind. We use SPD. I like the handle bars. There are a variety of comfortable hand positions for if you seated or out of the saddle for the climbs. Also, the curved shape makes it easy for me to hold grab on like I’m using aero bars. That little shifter lever is so much easier than cranking a knob. It’s just up or down and it’s also nice that the computer visually shows you what gear you are in. The included gel seat cover is also nice. I think it was smart that Zwift moved the wheel to the rear of the bike for when that sweat gets flying. Do yourself a favor and get a fan, use their included sweat towel (probably Kleenex for your nose), have some water nearby, and maybe even a speaker for some music. Zwift background noise and notifications are okay, but I prefer music to get to get in the zone.

6) Other things I loved about my Keiser experience:
-The level of service and engagement by the Keiser team. Any time I contacted them, they answered immediately, and had anything I needed sent to me by next day. Also, I noticed that the engineers I interacted with were also actively out on both Keiser and Zwift forums talking about their compatibility, availability, and answering general questions. They really care and clearly take pride in their product.
-The M3i enables my wife and I to use a single piece of equipment in the house and it also gives my family across the country the chance to connect online. We actually conference call while we ride together and encourage each other. It’s a nice way to stay connected and burn a few calories.
-They also included a heart rate monitor. Forgot to mention that. You can also connect it to Zwift if you want.
-It’s so easy to jump on the bike at the beginning of the day or any random block of time and get your heart rate up.
-With apps like Zwift, you also get a bit of the social and gamification aspects that might help you stick to it a bit longer. The communities out there are very supportive.

Great product, Keiser!

Btw, BP was back down to 126/82 today and even lower recently. You and the M3I played a big part in that. Thank you and Ride On!

Quiet little bugger

I live in the cold of Minnesota, out on the prairie. It's cold. It's windy. I have ridden a fat tire bike in the winter and a road bike in the good weather for about 6,000 miles a year. But as I get close to 60, I just can't stand the cold anymore.

I researched road bike alternatives for a year. I almost pulled the plug last winter and then decided to tough it out one more year. No more. If it isn't above 15 or 20, I just get too cold out in elements. So I pleaded my case to my wife and she give me the green light.
Keiser won out over all the alternatives. And when I got it assembled (hey guys, you didn't include the socket to remove the bolts holding it to...

Keiser won out over all the alternatives. And when I got it assembled (hey guys, you didn't include the socket to remove the bolts holding it to the plywood base), the assembly was actually quite easy, I got on the bike.

Wow. Talk about quiet. I didn't have to increase the volume on the television one setting. This baby is quiet, smooth, and feels much like a real road bike.

Once I have switched out the seat for my road bike seat and put some Shimano pedals on it, my fears of riding indoors disappeared.
Really well made, small footprint, easy to move about, and QUIET makes this a purchase I am glad I made. I'm looking forward to riding all winter on this (when I am not in Florida) and keeping those winter pounds off this body.

Keiser, you did well with this. Very impressed. Just wished I had gotten a T shirt with my order (2XL!)

Keiser responded:

Hey John,

This is my kind of review. High praise with some very valuable tips! It takes a 1/2" socket to remove those bolts, and we do need to include the socket.

Stay warm!

Smooth and Sweet

VERIFIED PURCHASE
I’ve been quite impressed with this bike thus far. I considered Peloton when my wife tried one at the hotel she stayed at, but after researching the final cost, the Keiser M3i seemed like a better value, especially with the extras thrown in with their promotion at the time. The Peloton seems like a good bike, but if we are going to spend this type of money, I want to spend as little as possible on marketing and more on quality. Plus, I didn’t want to spend money on the screen that came with the peloton, since we had enough tablets, smart phones, computer monitors, and TV screens to use with the Peloton app, which by the way is half the monthly cost than using the Peloton bike screen.

I assembled the bike in about an hour. The online video and manual are both excellent...

I assembled the bike in about an hour. The online video and manual are both excellent aids and easy to follow. The provided tools were a big help as I didn’t have to go buy or try and find them in my messy garage. It was actually kinda nice assembling the unit. Everything fit like a glove and has a beautiful machine fit. If I was a robot, I’d look at it like high fashion model. Lol. The only issue I had assembling it was a noise that I couldn’t tell why it was happening. Turns out I had left some packing material around the magnets in the back that interact with the flywheel. Make sure you check for that, as they do protect the unit well for shipping.

The unit itself is smooth as silk to ride. From a review on Amazon on the Keiser, I copied their “conversion” resistance guide from the Peloton to Keiser bike. It was good enough to get me going for our online Peloton classes. I really appreciate how easy it is to change the resistance by using the red lever near the handle bars. You get a feel for it quite quickly, and it’s really appreciated when you have to change your resistance quickly, like for HIIT classes.

I started biking regularly this past summer and this bike has increased my strength tremendously. I’m 57 and I remember the stationary bikes of the 80’s, clunky and uncomfortable. This machine rides almost like a real bike as far as pedaling goes. It makes you want to ride more. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer riding outside, but in the winter, I got addicted to riding my Keiser bike as it really adds to the intensity of my workouts. I find the seat quite forgiving, but keep in mind my butt has gotten used to bike seats from riding outside. The Gel seat cover makes it even more comfortable. Overall, this bike has been worth every penny as a health investment. Plus, with all the extras they threw in, it made worth even more. I never thought I would enjoy riding a stationary bike this much, but this bike has made me a believer. I’m sure it will outlast me.

Great Bike

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Easy to buy, easy to assemble, and easy to ride....well, that's relative. Very quiet ride on an incredibly firm frame that feels great. Early into my experience, this bike seems very well built from a smart design. I hope the computer can become more compatible with online apps and programs. I can't find one yet........

Keiser responded:

Hey Dave,

Thank you very much! We proudly stand behind the design of our cycle, and I'm glad you noticed.

I recommend you check out our M Series Converter page (link below) for more info on the apps we're compatible with now, though you can always start with the Keiser M Series app. We built the app to be a companion for the cycle, with data tracking, guided cycling sessions for motivation and it will act as a more robust display for the cycle when in use.

My gym uses the same bike and I’ve been doing classes there for 2 years. Love the quality and simplicity of the bike. Havin g one at home is awesome. Only have 2 recommendations: work on the fitness app data, was hard to link and seems clunky. Would also like some maintence info in the manual

Keiser responded:

Hey Syracusespg,

Noted. Did you try the Keiser M Series app, or have any specific improvements you would recommend? Would love to hear your thoughts.

The manual does include maintenance data, you might have missed it as there's not much to do! Just keep the bike clean and you're doing 90% of the maintenance.

Thank you!

Great Trainer!

I've now had my M3i for a year. It's very sturdy and is a high quality machine. I also like the iPhone app. It's simple and straight forward.
