Works well; difficult to assemble; some play in the frame
Keiser responded:
Paul,
Thanks for the feedback, installing the flywheel can be a tricky part of assembly, we include a foam sheet with the flywheel to help safeguard it during installation. The Keiser M3i is classified as an "indoor cycle," different than an "upright cycle" which have a much more upright ride position. I imagine it'll feel more natural over time, the user manual has information on how to size the cycle appropriately to reduce discomfort even in those who are used to a more upright position.
All the best,

Great bike
Keiser responded:
Andy,
We get that a lot, and it's true: older bikes will feel and perform differently as compared to new bikes for several reasons. I would want to compare your two bikes before making any kind of specific claim to what could be the culprit though! If you give us a call or send an email to service@keiser.com we'll troubleshoot with you and see if we can't figure something out. I'd want to know if the models are the same (M3 to M3, or, M3i to M3i) and what year the cycles were manufactured.
Thank you!

I like the solidity of the pedals. I like the magnetic gearing and the gear lever. I like the media tray. I like the overall quiet operation of the bike, once I resolved a creaking sound (see below).
Assembly was more difficult than I thought it would be. I feel like there should be a more fool-proof method for customers to assemble the unit without scratching the flywheel. I managed to scratch mine while I was attempting to tighten the screws with a metal allen wrench. Allens have a tendency to pop out sometimes, which is what mine did, and the allen brushed against the flywheel and scratched it. Not the end of the world.

The bike creaked initially while pedaling. It seemed that the noise was coming from the exterior plastic, so I tightened some (factory-installed) screws down, and the sound went away.
I feel like there is more play in the handlebars than I would like. I would like the handlebars to be rock solid, but there is a little bit of give to them.
The handlebars are set up for fully leaning forward. I would prefer them a little closer than I am able to achieve by adjusting the seat and handlebars. (I'm 6' tall.)
I do enjoy the bike. I tend to watch movies on an iPad while riding. I don't do a lot of stand-up cycling - typically only when I need a change of position.
