Overall Good bike

VERIFIED PURCHASE
The bike and is extremely smooth mechanically and the adjustments for height and tension are excellent.

The seat is terribly uncomfortable and the heart rate monitor lasted one ride and it was dead.

Keiser responded:

Cards,

If you find the seat uncomfortable I recommend a few options: you can find a narrow gel saddle cover at many online stores, though I've always been a proponent of an upgrade to the seat entirely. Anything that fits on a normal road bike by way of the seat or pedals can be swapped out on our cycles.

Sorry about your Poar HRM! Might have been a bad battery, have you checked with our service department?

Thank you,

best spin bike on the market!

VERIFIED PURCHASE
We have been spinning on Kaiser bikes for a few years at our local gym spin classes and when the gym shut down for social distancing, I spent a lot of time reviewing spin bikes because we wanted one for the home gym. Long story short, the M3i is the best bike on the market. Assembly was easy and the new bike is amazing! The M3i is the perfect compliment to our home gym and is exactly what we needed to keep up with our training.

Exactly what we wanted

We've tried a number of different spin bikes. None had the build quality and ease of setup as these. Loved using them at LA Fitness for years. Now we have one in the house and couldn't be happier (unless we had another).

Thanks Lynn! Anything we can or could have done to improve your experience?

Hope you're staying safe,

Bike is great - app & app support are garbage

VERIFIED PURCHASE
100% the best stationary bike on the market. Built to last with little to no maintenance. I'm a huge fan of the bike, but their app & app support into other apps is absolute garbage. I so wish the company would invest in a better app & support for other apps on the market.

Keiser responded:

Hey BK,

You found the Keiser M Series app lacking? Can you give me an idea of what you'd like to see improved, or instead of that app? Always happy to take constructive feedback.

Thank you,

Fantastic Cycle!

VERIFIED PURCHASE
Went back and fourth with a few bikes, I’ve been using Keisers for a while at a past gym. By far the best bike with no additional monthly fees. Quiet, great resistance and very precise levels. Assembly was easy, did have a broken computer when I got it(they shipped one to me). Also, odd wrench sizes, surprised they don’t add the tools.

Great bike…until I bought one.

Bottom line up front: The bike we received has a mechanical flaw that makes it difficult to ride (excess resistance). Tech support has not been of any help (they told me nothing was wrong). Customer support (Mike) has been marginally helpful by extending the return period but essentially agreed with tech support about the issue and suggested a wait-and-see approach.
In Keiser’s defense the COVID-19 crisis precludes sending a technician out to my house to check the bike. So, for now, I am giving customer service the benefit of the doubt that they would have done that if they could.
That does not, however, excuse unresponsive tech support. “Ride it for a while and hope it gets better” is not a technically sound approach.

So, for now I am essentially in a holding pattern, making the best of a machine that does not operate as advertised until I can prove otherwise.
I will update this review as the situation evolves.
Read on for the details…
We bought this bike based on a lot of first-hand experience. My wife and I use (used prior to COVID-19) M3i bikes for spin class at my local YMCA; I also ride an older M3 at the fitness center of the university where I teach, and even had one on my submarine for workouts while at sea. Over many, many miles those bikes performed well; smooth resistance, rugged durability, good fit, etc..
The one we received does not work or feel like any other Keiser either one of us has ever ridden.
- It is much more difficult to pedal for a given resistance (gear) or output (watts).
- Gears that are usually sustainable indefinitely are very difficult
- The average wattage for a workout is between 50-60% of normal.
These symptoms point to either a calibration problem (bike is in a higher gear than indicated) or friction problem (bad bearing or something impeding the crank/pulley/flywheel.)
Friction seems the more likely cause. The discrepancy is more pronounced at higher RPM and the bike sounds a bit louder than normal. To be fair, there is less ambient noise in my basement than in any of the other settings but I am fairly certain this bike is whooshing more loudly than it should.
Keiser agreed to send me the calibration tool. If I am lucky, a calibration will fix the problem. But for the reasons listed above, I still think friction is the culprit.
Troubleshooting to date:
- Took videos of the bike while being pedaled to show the sound
o The tech said it sounded normal (I find this dubious given the limited fidelity of cell phone video sound).
- At the request of a different tech, pedaled the bike at 80 rpm in gear 8 and counted the coast down revolutions.
o Nothing heard from tech support…yet.
o This is a better measure but is a bit imprecise as each “gear” on the bike actually represents a range of resistance vice a distinct value.
Continued workouts on the bike have yielded no change in the symptoms.

We want to like this bike and want to be able to recommend it.
But for now, we are waiting to see what whether the problem gets fixed or we send the bike back and just get a Peleton.

Keiser responded:

Jeff,

I went through the service file and saw that this ended up being a calibration issue as anticipated, very very glad to hear it ended well! Your review provides an excellent opportunity to go over a few quick points:

1. Home users will frequently call, puzzled, when they receive their bike at home and it's louder or different than a bike in the gym, and it's a tough way to start the process. The bike in your home will often be louder than the bike at the gym due to the size of the room and ambient noise level; most of our home customers place their cycle in a corner of the house right next to the walls, and the sound has nowhere to go but up!

2. Cycles in the gym will show often different wattage numbers as we are constantly fine tuning our cycles to be as...

2. Cycles in the gym will show often different wattage numbers as we are constantly fine tuning our cycles to be as accurate as possible, in fact, we have a cycle testing almost constantly on a dynamo to compare the wattage output to our current software. This change is more pronounced if it's an older or different model of cycle.

All that being said, your resistance was way off and I'm glad it has been resolved.

Thanks again!
