I have been spinning at LA Fitness for 15 years using Keiser spin bikes from the early models to the M3, Due to the pandemic, I froze my gym membership and decided to purchase a spin bike. I did extensive research and came down to Keiser or Peleton. No question that Peleton's marketing has given then name recognition; however, there is no comparison to the quality and features of the Keiser M3i which is the most superior spin bike available. Dealing directly with Mike Douglass at Keiser made the purchase easy after he provided me answers to my many questions. I purchased the tools (which I recommend) and with the detailed instructions and on-line video, I assembled the bike myself. It is presently in my office and I am thinking of purchasing 2 more (for my home and vacation home). Highly recommend.

Where's the Traffic?

The only thing that would make riding the M3i more authentic is threatening traffic and a headwind. I've been an avid road cyclist for over thirty-five years and was a competitive cyclist for eighteen. Took my winter training indoors decades ago at various gyms. I was introduced to the Keiser ride two years ago at a new gym. I was impressed with how closely I could set it up to my road bike. If my road bike's saddle is raised or lowered, or moved fore or aft as little as a centimeter or so, I know it. I was able to get very close with the M3i. As well, the variety of upper body positions available with the bar setup is good for climbing in or out of the saddle, as well as assuming a solid time trialing posture. I'd previously ridden...

I'd previously ridden stationary bikes based on friction resistance and a heavy flywheel. I much prefer the magnetic resistance as it encourages a smoother pedal stroke. Also, this is the first stationary I've ridden which provides information, all of which is useful in any given ride, as well as tracking progress over time. The COVID outbreak put an end to the gym. So after a really good year outside, I don't intend to let that fitness go. Though it's a healthy investment, buying an M3i for home use was a no-brainer! It's a very well- designed and -built piece of equipment. And the way it was packed for shipment speaks volumes about how thoughtfully Keiser approaches things!

I experienced Keiser at a fitness club where I was a member for years. I loved the cycling classes there. When I moved to another state, I joined a club that had a different brand of bike. Not nearly as satisfactory, but I made do. With the coronavirus precautions, I quit going to the club and after a string of months, I decided to buy a bike to have in my house. I am not a serious trainer. I just like the way cycling makes me feel. From a training standpoint, the Keiser M3i is more bike than I really need, but I wanted Keiser's ultra-smooth functioning, easy adjustments and battleship solidity. On top of that, it's quiet. For me, it's worth the money.
