This area is designed to provide you with an overview of the considerable amount of research in older adult fitness that has been conducted using Keiser strength training equipment. As you would expect, progressive strength training significantly improves muscle strength and endurance. · Increase lean body mass
· Increase the resting metabolic rate
· Decrease body fat
· Increase bone density
· Prevent and reverse physical frailty
· Increase insulin sensitivity
· Help prevent and control adult onset diabetes
· Help prevent and control osteoporosis
· Improve the quality of sleep
· Reduce depression
· Aid digestion and reduce the risk of colon cancer
· Help prevent falls
· Help prevent obesity and its many health consequences

In addition you will learn that strength training is safe and effective for all ages, even the very old, and those with chronic conditions such as:
Arthritis
Osteoporosis
Diabetes
Heart disease

These research abstracts are grouped into subject categories including: Body Composition, Bone Density, Chromium Supplementation, Chronic Conditions, Diabetes, Hormonal Responses, Muscle Injury, Physical Frailty, Sleep/Depression, Strength Gains, and "Other" for miscellaneous abstract subjects.

Each section includes definitions that will be helpful in understanding the research studies. The symbol = is used in many articles to indicate approximately.
