The following definitions will be helpful in understanding the variety of studies in this category.

Gastrointestinal Transit Time (GITT):
The amount of time that it takes for nutrients to pass through the gastrointestinal system.

Lipoprotein:
Fats that circulate in the blood, also called lipids.

Mouth To Cecum:
The time it takes for nutrients to pass from the mouth to the cecum, which is the name for the entrance into the large intestine.


Whole Bowel Transit Time:
The amount of time that it takes nutrients to pass through the bowel.
