(Fresno, CA; October, 2001) - As a Super Bowl champion and wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, Ed McCaffrey needs speed and explosive power to stay on top of his game. That's why McCaffrey is endorsing Keiser pneumatic equipment as his choice for power training. McCaffrey will appear in Keiser's 2001-2002 advertising campaign bearing a red heart Keiser tattoo on his arm. "If your sport requires you to be explosive, requires you to be quick or fast or powerful," he is quoted, "there's no better way to do it than working with Keiser."
McCaffrey has been training on Keiser for the last four years, coincidentally or not, his best years in the NFL. He says the key to his position as wide receiver is not just strength, but speed and explosiveness. To achieve this, McCaffrey makes power training an essential part of his weekly workouts. "The risk of injury is greater when power training with free weights," says McCaffrey, who has seen injuries to knees and backs because of the momentum free weights create at the beginning and end of an explosive lift. "In my profession getting injured can cost you your career. Keiser takes the momentum out of the top and bottom of a lift," he says. "It's the safest, most versatile technology around. And it allows me to develop speed and power in the weight room-so I can carry that explosiveness onto the football field."
McCaffrey also likes that he can add 200 to 300 pounds in a few seconds on Keiser and unlike free weights he doesn't need a spotter during his power training sets. He can also go through a total system of Keiser in a shorter period of time because of the resistance thumb controls. If an athlete has already been injured on the playing field, McCaffrey says the benefits of Keiser's technology-including a constant variable resistance curve--offer great advantages for rehabilitation.
